The WEEE (Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment) directive aims to reduce the amount of waste electrical and electronic equipment incinerated or sent to landfill sites. It encourages the recovery, reuse and responsible recycling of all electrical products and components.

Any product that is dependent on electric currents or electromagnetic fields to work properly. For simplehuman, this means all our sensor products (bins, mirrors and pumps).

All electrical and electronic equipment that was produced after 13th August 2005 should display this symbol on either the product itself or its packaging. This symbol means that the product should not be disposed of within your general household waste stream.

To help protect the environment, please either send the product back to us via our WEEE take back service or recycle it at your nearest recycling centre.

As an online retailer of EEE products, simplehuman can collect your old electrical product for recycling when you purchase a new one from our UK website. The old product does not have to be a simplehuman item, but it must be an electrical product with a similar function to the one purchased. For example, if you buy a new sensor mirror from simplehuman.co.uk, we will take back and recycle your old sensor mirror (regardless of the brand).

• the old product can be any brand but must serve a similar function to the new one
• one old product will be recycled for each new product purchased
• simplehuman will arrange the collection using our approved couriers
• a £5.00 collection charge applies regardless of product size, up to a maximum box weight of 30kg, with the longest side no more than 1.2m

simplehuman’s responsibility as a retailer extends to the recycling and disposal of the old electrical product. Once the old product is returned, we will recycle it in a responsible manner free of charge.

We ask customers to pay for the collection and transportation of the old product to ensure commitment to this process.

We will ask you to pay this fee over the phone once you have made your request.

In exchange, once your collection is arranged, you will receive an email with a £5 discount code for simplehuman.co.uk. It can be used on any full-priced item and is valid for 30 days. One time use only. Visit our Terms of Use for full details.

If you do not wish to pay the collection charge, you can take your old product to your nearest recycling centre.

If you have purchased a new electrical product from simplehuman.co.uk and wish to arrange collection of an old one, please use our virtual assistant within 28 days of the original purchase.
